Introduction

Department of Biochemistry was established in 2021 at Abbottabad University of science and Technology. The discipline of Biochemistry deals with the Molecular Biology, Genetic Engineering, Bio-nanotechnology and Biotechnology. There are the main and broad research domains in the department which are mainly focusing on the human biochemistry and as well as Biochemistry and Environmental Biotechnology.

The department currently offers a Bachelor of Science in Biochemistry and is planning to introduce M.Phil. and PhD programs in the near future. Our objective is to deliver a comprehensive introduction to the field. In addition to academic pursuits, the Biochemistry laboratories offer essential facilities for students.

The department consistently revises its curriculum to reflect the latest advancements in Biochemistry, ensuring that students receive a contemporary education. To further enhance professional training and future career prospects, a diverse range of study programs has been developed. Additionally, the department organizes national and international workshops aimed at fostering knowledge exchange and collaboration. Faculty members are deeply involved in various research initiatives, including several that are supported by national collaborations and funding.

Vision

Biochemistry serves as the foundation of life sciences, and the department aims to contribute to the dissemination and application of knowledge through both teaching and research. The department’s objective is to cultivate a supportive academic environment that enhances intellectual growth, to provide graduate and undergraduate programs that meet international standards, and to encourage research and scholarly endeavors in biochemistry as well as interdisciplinary areas.

Objectives

To help increase the number of pharmacists required in Pakistan and also among Muslim nations.
To train graduates with adequate knowledge and skills in all aspects of drugs,beginning with their origin, chemistry, pharmacology, production and their usage.
