A 2 Days Hands-on Training Workshop on Isolation and Characterization of Bacteriophages for Phage Therapy was conducted by Phage Research Group, Institute of Microbiology and Molecular Genetics University of the Punjab on 17th and 18th March, 2023, under the leadership of Dr. Shafiq Ur Rehman, Associate Professor iMMG. A large number of applicants have applied for the workshop, 44 applicants were scrutinized for attending the workshop from diverse academic and industrial backgrounds from different regions of Pakistan. The participants actively participated in the hands on session. The opening session was chaired by Prof. Dr. Anjum Nasim Sabri Director iMMG and the closing ceremony was graced by the presence of Prof. Dr. Malik Mujaddad Ur Rehman Worthy Vice chancellor Abbottabad University of Science and Technology, Abbottabad. The foundation of Pakistan Society for Bacteriophages was also laid during the workshop. The purpose of the society will be to provide a platform to the phage enthusiasts to collaborate and work collectively and to establish phage bank in Pakistan. The participants learned keenly and wished that such workshops should be conducted in future, too.
