Introduction

Department of Pharmacy was established in March, 2008 at the then Hazara University Havelian Campus (now Abbottabad University of Science & Technology). Its Pharm-D program & course of studies was recognized by Pharmacy Council of Pakistan in 2014 No. 1-10/2008-PCP (Pt.II)/2014. The Havelian campus of Hazara University upgraded to Abbottabad University of Science & Technology by Provincial Government in June 2015 No. 2-6/2009-PCP on May 30th, 2016.

The Department of Pharmacy at Abbottabad University of Science & Technology (AUST), located in Havelian – Abbottabad, Pakistan, is a leading academic institution dedicated to the education, research, and professional training of pharmacists. Established with the vision to produce competent healthcare professionals, the department strives to excel in pharmacy education and contribute to the advancement of pharmacy practice in the region.

The Department of Pharmacy at AUST is committed to provide high-quality education and training to its students, equipping them with the knowledge, skills, and ethical values necessary to excel in the field of pharmacy. The department offers undergraduate and postgraduate programs, including a five-year Doctor of Pharmacy (Pharm-D) degree, a two-year M.Phil and three-year PhD degree in various specialized areas. The Course modules, designed by the PCP and endorsed by HEC are adapted to fulfill the current needs regarding professionalism, marketability, employability, and entrepreneurship.

The faculty members at the Department of Pharmacy are experienced and highly qualified professionals who are passionate about teaching and research. They employ innovative teaching methodologies, including interactive classroom sessions, laboratory experiments, and practical training in state-of-the-art facilities, to ensure a comprehensive learning experience for students.

The Department was initially allotted a quota of 50 seats per annum which has been enhanced to 100 seats per annum by Pharmacy Council of Pakistan No. F. No. 2-6/2009-PCP from session 2022-23.

Mission

Towards actualizing the Department’s vision, we intend to undertake following endeavors:

  • Changing the status of the department to the faculty of Pharmacy.
  • Reforming the contemporary curriculum of pharmacy and integrating it with future needs of profession at part with the advanced countries.
  • Initiating extensive clinical pharmacy practice for Pharm-D students at various hospitals.
  • Initiating pharmacy residency program at post Pharm-D level as practiced in advance countries.
  • Strengthening our research activities at MPhil and PhD level in all disciplines of Pharmacy.
  • Producing better quality professionals, intellectuals and scholars in the field of Pharmacy to serve as agents of comprehensive and balanced progress as well as sustainable development specifically in Pakistan and the whole world in general.
  • Develop world renown drug research institute.
Objectives
  • To help increase the number of pharmacists required in Pakistan and also among Muslim nations.
  • To train graduates with adequate knowledge and skills in all aspects of drugs,beginning with their origin, chemistry, pharmacology, production and their usage.
